Jay Freedman, D.D.S

Dr. Jay Freedman opened his dental practice in 1980 after graduating from Temple University School of Dentistry. Dr. Freedman is a lifelong resident of Eastern Montgomery County. He attended Roslyn Elementary School, graduated from Abington High School, and received a BS in Biology from Temple University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Temple University School of Dentistry.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Freedman is an active member in multiple avenues of organized and educational aspects of dentistry, including the advanced education of graduate dentists. He has been on staff at Jefferson-Abington Memorial Hospital as a member of the Dental Division since 1989. As a senior staff member, his responsibilities include post-graduate clinical and didactic resident education, new resident selection, and committees for materials, new technology, and curriculum. Dr. Freedman’s office is one of the two offices for resident mentoring.

Dr. Freedman has served on the Executive Board of the local branch of the American Dental Association (Montgomery Bucks Dental Society), where his responsibilities have included Continuing Education Program Chairperson, Chairperson of Membership, and Recording Secretary, and he is a past President.

On a regional level, Dr. Freedman serves as a member of the Pennsylvania Dental Association’s Valley Forge Dental Society Second District Access to Care Committee, where he is involved in formulating programs to help the “at-risk” population receive dental care. He also serves on the Membership and the Awards Committee and is also a past President. His commitment to continuing education has led Dr. Freedman to be a key member of the Greater Philadelphia Dental Conference (Pennsylvania’s largest dental conference), planning and steering committees, and he has also been the meeting’s chair.

Dr. Freedman is a member of the Pennsylvania Dental Association, serving on the Membership Committee, has served on the Steering Committee for the annual meeting, and is a faculty member of the PDA Leadership Academy.

At a national level, Dr. Freedman has served on the American Dental Association’s Council on Membership, including being its chair, and most recently has been selected to serve as a member of the ADA’s Strategic Forecasting Committee.

In addition to his active roles in private practice, as a post-graduate educator, and in organized dentistry, Dr. Freedman has maintained a serious commitment to his own continuing education. He maintains membership in several study clubs and has been a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry for over 25 years, attending numerous national seminars yearly. Just check out his CV!

Dr. Freedman has been selected by his peers as a Top Dentist in the Philadelphia region in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. It is an especially amazing honor as only other dentists can vote!

Dr. Freedman’s commitment to excellence in care, technology, education, and patient value is his primary directive. Dr. Freedman has partnered with Abington Township’s PAL to provide no-cost dental exams, X-rays, and prevention services to his community’s at-risk children, helped create the “Give Vets a Smile” program providing dental care for veterans living in the Montgomery and Bucks Counties, and has participated and been a department chair for the Pennsylvania Mission of Mercy since its start in 2013 – helping to serve thousands of individuals in need in our Commonwealth.

Dr. Freedman lives locally in Dresher with his wife of over 35 years, Susan. Believe it or not, they met in prison (she worked in the treatment department, he was the prison dentist). He and his wife raised two sons and are active community members.

Dr. Freedman also enjoys history, reading, exercise, cooking, flower gardening, and traveling.
